Ready to discover why you need to stay here? Let’s go.
The Rooms
Tulum has gathered quite the reputation as a party spot in recent years, so it’s a bit of a relief that, while lively, La Zebra a Colibri has a far more laidback approach than some of Tulum’s other brilliant resorts.
Six different types of rooms are available, all mere steps from the Caribbean Sea. Each features huge sliding doors that allow plenty of light to flood into the room and illuminate the gorgeous light linens that decorate the space.
Our top pick is the Garden View Balcony Suite, which boasts a large bed, sofa, and generous balcony surrounded by lush greenery. It’s the ultimate room for a romantic getaway in Tulum – in fact, we’ve also raved about it in our guide to planning the perfect Tulum honeymoon here.
Nightly music helps to liven things up a little bit throughout the resort, though feel free to retreat back to your gorgeous room for a chilled-out evening if you wish to bypass all the action.
La Zebra’s Restaurants
Dining at La Zebra can only be described as a real treat, the Beach Restaurant and Bar overlooks the white sand with just the right level of shelter to shade you from the overbearing midday sun.
Cuisine-wise, expect classic Mexican dishes highlighting the region’s best ingredients. The dinner menu boasts the likes of yellowfin tuna and Cochinita Pibil (Yucatan barbequed pork), alongside some lighter options and plenty of cocktails.
If you’re in Tulum celebrating a seriously special occasion, we recommend booking out the Chef’s Table which seats up to 8 people. Not only is the dining area a vintage dream, but there’s a curtain separating the kitchen from diners which can be opened at any time so you can decide on your level of privacy.
Chef Eleazar Bonilla will cook up a stellar 8-course tasting menu that uses traditional Mexican ingredients and gives them a modern twist.
The menu features plenty of signature cocktails, local beers, and New World wines pair and you can ask your waiter for recommendations if you want the perfect pairing with your bespoke meal.
