Best Beach Hotels in Tulum
Kimpton Aluna Resort Tulum
$$$
Hotel Zone
When it comes to 5-star hotels in Tulum on the beach, none are as impressive as the Kimpton Aluna Resort.
Don’t believe us – how do rooms decked out in ultra-modern decor, a private balcony, AND a luxe beach club sound? Pretty good, we’re sure you’ll agree.
All this is available at the Aluna Resort – and more. A spa, beautiful gardens, and a swimming pool are all available at your disposal. Not to mention that there’s a stunning beach just a few hundred meters away from your room.
Gramercy Tulum
$$
Tulum Beach
Situated along the road from the iconic Follow That Dream Sign, 5-star Gramercy is one of the best beach hotels Tulum has to offer. Which is quite the accolade, as Tulum has quite a few brilliant options up its sleeve.
Rooms are decorated in the signature Tulum aesthetic – think rattan furniture, light linen, and carefully thought-out accessories.
The King Suite with Sea View is just that: An apartment fit for a King. Ultra-comfy beds, direct access to the beach, and an airport shuttle ensure that you can spend less time planning and more time sunbathing. Which sounds like a major win to us.
Selina Tulum
$
Hotel Zone
Looking to save some cash but not willing to compromise on your vacay? Selina Tulum has got you more than covered.
Rates are reasonable yet you’re still treated to the likes of ultra-stylish rooms, a hearty continental breakfast, and a communal kitchen in case you fancy rustling something up midday. Or not, we don’t blame you for ordering something in.
The best part, though, is you’re only a few steps from South Tulum Beach – one of our favorites in the area. Tranquil azure waters and white sand await.
Sol Caribe
$$
Mixing beachside bliss with nature, Sol Caribe is one of the best hotels on the beach in Tulum. Well, technically you’re around a couple hours’ drive from central Tulum, but this hotel is well worth the diversion.
Rooms are simple but clean and well-equipped – but that’s not why you stay here. Sol Caribe offers plenty of activities to get involved with, from snorkeling and deep-sea fishing to trips to the Mayan ruins of Muyil.
This is the perfect beachfront hotel (your terrace quite literally sits on the sand) for activity-loving groups.
Casa Maya Kaan
$$$
Boca Paila
If it’s a beachfront villa you’re dreaming of, Casa Maya Kaan’s offerings are the best in Tulum. We don’t see how anyone can argue.
This beachfront villa boasts 4 bedrooms – so you can get the entire gang together for a wonderful weekend in Tulum. As well as this, there are 5 bathrooms and a huge living space.
The casa quite literally sits on the beach, so you barely need to move during your stay. With its spacious design and totally ‘Grammable aesthetics, the property is ideal if you’re celebrating a special occasion, or if you and your pals are in need of a totally luxurious break.
And, if you decide you want to leave the sun terrace, there are opportunities to kayak, dive, and swim nearby. But we don’t blame you for staying and worshipping the sun from the beach.
Bahia Principe Grand Coba
$$
Akumal
If all-inclusive grandeur is what you’re after (go on, you deserve it!) the Bahia Principe Grand Coba is one of the top Tulum hotels on the beach.
Picture spacious rooms with modern styling, expansive marble bathrooms, and balconies with a garden view. All this AND a private beach area? It sounds too good to be true – but trust us, it isn’t.
Whether you fancy lazing around the beach or pool all day (make full use of your all-inclusive access and unlimited drinks, we say) or want to get involved in activities, the staff can organize cycling, diving, windsurfing, and plenty more for you.
There’s no need for you to even lift a finger. That is unless you’ve decided to go windsurfing.
La Diosa Tulum Resort & Spa
$$
Playa Paraiso
La Diosa Tulum Resort & Spa might just take the title for our favorite of all the Tulum beach hotels. Why’s that, we hear you ask? Well, simply put – it’s bloomin’ stunning.
Just 200 yards from Playa Pescadores, this hotel boasts a spa, pool, and individually designed rooms. If you can splurge on the Master Suite, we highly recommend it – we’re currently planning how we can fit the cool shell sink in our suitcase and bring it home with us.
Otherwise, the standard bungalow is *almost* as gorgeous. It might not have a sink made of shells, but it is ultra-cozy and filled with handmade local textiles. We’ll settle for that, we think.
Tago Tulum
$$$
Tulum Beach
Another five-star option with a private beach, Tago Tulum promises the celebrity treatment for all guests.
The Master Suite with Ocean Front Views is the standout option, though the Junior Suite is equally lovely if you can’t quite bring yourself to fork out for the other room. Not only do you have epic views from your bed (breakfast in bed, anyone?) but the private pool on your terrace also boasts a sea view.
Better yet, as you’re located in the Tulum Beach area, you’re ideally located. It’s a short walk to the center of town and a slightly longer drive to most of the major archeological sites. If you can peel yourself away from the beach, that is.
Cenotes Casa Tortuga Tulum
$
Balam Canche
While not a traditional hotel, the vacation rentals at Cenotes Casa Tortuga are a brilliant option for those looking to put in some serious hours on Tulum’s best beaches.
Each room comes with a private kitchen and ensuite, so you’ve got everything you need for a comfortable stay. Not that you’ll be in the room much – there’s sunbathing to be done!
If swimming and snorkeling are why you’re visiting the area, then these apartments are perfect. Just around the corner is Xel-Ha, promising a haven of water-based fun.
Situated in the middle of the jungle by the beach, you’re guaranteed a totally-tranquil stay (those likely to get a little bit lonely might want to check out some of the other brilliant beach hotels in Tulum).
You’re not totally in the sticks, though – the onsite restaurant is open between 9am and 5pm, and the center of Tulum is a short drive away.
Hotel MX Tulum
$
Archeological Zone4
Not got much cash to splash? Don’t fret – Hotel MX Tulum is a wallet-friendly alternative to some of the bougier options available.
Rooms are clean and stylish (in fact, they’re so gorgeous, you’ll be left wondering why you would ever pay more), with a balcony boasting epic views of the tranquil waters.
Talking of waters: Ruinas Beach, Playa Santa Fe, and Playa Pescadores are all within walking distance of the hotel, so you’ve got plenty of beaches nearby to choose from. Happy beach-bumming!
Jashita Hotel
$$$
Balam Canche
Dreaming of staying at luxe beachfront hotels in Tulum? You need to check out Jashita.
The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive at the hotel is the stunning pool – but look past that and you’ll spot the idyllic sand just moments away.
Inside, the hotel offers a moodier take on the usual light and bright Tulum decor – but it’s no less impressive. In fact, we think the dim lighting and dark wood furniture complement the hotel perfectly. And don’t get us started on the Nefertiti honeymoon suite – it’s the room of dreams.
With an excellent restaurant (the nighttime views from here are magical) and an on-site spa, it’s no wonder this is one of the best hotels in Tulum.
Ikal Tulum
$$
Playa Paraiso
Mere steps away from Playa Paraiso’s powder-soft sand, Ikal Tulum is a gem of a hotel filled with epic experiences and magical moments.
A brilliant option for families in Tulum, Ikal’s two-bedroom bungalow features a garden view, WiFi (a rarity in Tulum’s more rustic accommodations), and ultra-comfy beds. And for those early mornings, there’s a coffee machine and tea-making facilities, in case you need a 6am pick-me-up.
Alternatively, the Ocean-front Suite is perfect for couples looking to spend a few days in serenity. And, if you can bring yourself to leave your private pool, this beach is the best in Tulum.
Diamante K
$$
Playa Paraiso
When it comes to hotels on the beach in Tulum, none are as special as Diamante K – this hotel has got rustic-chic nailed. Oh, and did we mention that you’re situated inside Tulum National Park? Impressive AF.
The accommodation comes in the form of private bungalows, and the sea-view offerings are pretty spectacular. Whether you’re celebrating your honeymoon in Tulum or just fancy staying in a ridiculously romantic resort with your partner, Diamante K is our top recommendation.
Start your day with a bumper American breakfast on site. You’re going to need it – lazing around the beach for the rest of the day is so much effort.
Cabanas Tulum
$$
Hotel Zone
No guide to Tulum beach hotels is complete without mentioning Cabanas Tulum – an excellent option if you’re looking for luxury on a (slightly smaller) budget. The rooms are bright and spacious, but the amenities are what make this hotel shine.
Opt for a Beachfront Groundfloor room to maximize your vacation experience. Simply step outside and you’re faced with pure indulgence – a private pool on a cozy terrace, with excellent beach views.
You can spend the day flitting between the sand and the water in pure paradise. Or, if you’re looking to amp things up a little bit, Ziggy’s Beach Club is THE place to be. Oh-so-drinkable cocktails and an electric atmosphere are guaranteed to get you in the party mood.
